I am interested in the relationship between the inner worlds of people and the outer worlds they inhabit. While one´s surroundings can shape his or her psychological climate, reciprocally, we all command daily the physical world amongst us--ordering impersonal chaos into our own navigable realities.

I consider my paintings portraits, but the subject is equally the figure and the location. Place itself is a second or third party to the figures in my paintings, its presence creating or complicating the dynamic. I strive for my paintings to involve the viewer by conveying the visceral feeling of presence, or resonance, that my painted figures receive. I aim to express how connected we are, from the world inside our skin to the world without.
